NORTHWEST FOLKLIFE FEATURES SUNSHINE FROM POLYNESIA IN ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY LOGO

Northwest Folklife celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2021 with a commemorative logo, highlighting the people and the communities who make Northwest Folklife and all of our programs what it is today. This celebratory 50th logo was designed to feature the core of our organization and one that encompasses who we are—and that is YOU, our community.

The illustration on the ‘0’ is inspired by a photo taken at the 2016 Northwest Folklife Festival featuring a member of Sunshine From Polynesia, a hula performance company and dance school with a 30-year history in Seattle. This photo is of Ryan AbayAbay, and has a very special meaning to the group. more

NEW BEGINNER CLASSES STARTING IN SEPTEMBER 2019

EXCITING NEWS!!! We plan to open up two new teen/adult beginner hula classes here at SFP, to be taught by our own Emily Keating. For all of you who may know someone who has talked about trying a class, here is their chance:

Starting in September, two times are being considered: TUESDAYS FROM 5:30PM-6:30PM, and SATURDAYS FROM 2-3PM. We ask for your help in passing the word....to friends, relatives, or maybe you are a parent of a dancer and have thought about trying it out? The first class is always free, with no obligation. (Tuition is still $40 per month, and $30 per month for a second class or second member of the same family)
